This Monday afternoon, March 22, 2021, the Spring 2021 “Shanghai-Hong Kong University Consortium”, initiated by Fudan University’s Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office, held a kick-off ceremony at Fudan University’s Ma Jinming Building. Mr. Wang Peng, the founder and CEO of UNIANC, was invited by the event and represented UNIANC as a corporate mentor at the ceremony.
The Fudan University Spring 2021 “Shanghai-Hong Kong University Consortium”, held in Shanghai from March 15 to June 15, aims to provide Hong Kong youth with opportunities to combine classroom learning with workplace practice. The students of the university go from campus to enterprise, from their hometown to Shanghai, turning knowledge into skills, refining knowledge with skills, experiencing modern China in the field, developing the ability to solve practical problems and laying the foundation for their careers, as well as enhancing their sense of responsibility and social identity.
The program provides students with abundant internship resources and a professional mentoring team. The recruiting companies cover various social fields such as advertising and media, real estate development, game development, intelligent manufacturing, finance and securities; students choose independently and can be matched with various positions such as event planning, marketing and operation, development engineers, etc. to really get on the job and get in touch with the work.
In order to help students adapt to the work rhythm, the organizers also set up a mentor group, inviting leading talents from various industries as corporate mentors, who will continue to pay attention to the students’ internship status and provide them with career guidance and experience to draw on.
In response to the national call for “innovation and entrepreneurship for young people in Hong Kong and Macau”, the partner universities in Hong Kong enthusiastically supported the project. The project has attracted the best students from Hong Kong universities, who will complete the spring internship program together with the elites from Shanghai enterprises. This will not only inspire young people to give full play to their innovative abilities and use breakthrough thinking, but will also promote deeper exchanges between the two places to showcase their respective strengths and achieve mutual benefits.
In the opening flag ceremony, Fudan University and representatives of enterprises jointly awarded the camp flags to the representatives of interns – Wong Ka Cheung and Wu Ting Yu from The Chinese University of Hong Kong – and took a group photo.
In the sharing speech session, Mr. Zhuang Hui, Deputy Director of Fudan University Hong Kong and Macau Office, briefly introduced the program to the students. Mr. Zhuang has devoted himself to the cause of Shanghai-Hong Kong exchange for many years and has insights in the development and career planning of both places. Mr. Fan Yang, the corporate mentor, also gave a speech on the spot, sharing his personal career experience and expressing his high hopes for the students. Representatives from Fudan University expressed their gratitude to the corporate mentors and presented them with appointment letters.
In the ice-breaking session, students participating in this program introduced themselves. After that, Fudan University staff led the students on a tour of the spring campus, and the students talked about campus and internship life while enjoying the beautiful scenery, deepening their friendship with each other.
During the dinner meeting, Mr. Wang Peng further communicated with the mentors from other companies to get to know more about the students. Students who have been exposed to the internship also spoke positively, saying that they felt benefited from the first few days of work. The students shared their problems and thoughts on life and work with the school teachers and corporate mentors, and received patient guidance from the teachers.
In addition to the three-month internship work, the organizers also organically combined offline activities with online learning. The program includes both colorful team activities such as the Shanghai Smart Development Company Tour to help Hong Kong students experience China’s development on the ground, and dry online courses such as the Career Literacy Boot Camp to help Hong Kong students solidify their career development skills.
We wish the Fudan University Spring 2021 Shanghai-Hong Kong University Consortium a great success and hope that the students will come back with a great time!
